About Me

As you've probably gathered by now, my name is Eric Richardson. I was born twenty-something years ago in Columbia, South Carolina. I've lived in South Carolina (twice), New Jersey, and Michigan, and I'm now in my finishing up at the University of Southern California where I majored in Communications at the Annenberg School.

My attraction to computers began at an early age. My parents claim my first words were "comma eight comma one," which may ring a bell to those of you familiar with the Commodore 64. These days I'm big into Linux and Perl. At various jobs I've been a streaming media guru, a Perl programmer, and worked in video production. Some little Perl projects I've written are available at eScripting. My biggest project is eThreads, the content engine that powers the blog on this site.

In May of 2004 I moved a few miles away from campus to an apartment in the historic heart of downtown Los Angeles. My building, Premiere Towers, was built in the 1920's/1930's (read the premiere page for clarification). In August, 2004, I was elected to the Downtown Los Angeles Neighborhood Council as Area-Wide Resident Artist. I serve on two committees: AACE (Arts, Asthetics, Culture, and Education) and Transportation & Public Works.

I'm online almost constantly throughout the day, and enjoy hearing from the people who visit my site. Feel free to drop me an email at e@ericrichardson.com or to IM me via AOL instant messenger at msbob5.
