NM Class Offerings

One of the favorite activities of North Muskegon students seems to be complaining about all the things North Muskegon schools don't have. First they want higher-level classes in the areas of Math and Science. Next they say we need to offer a wider range of courses, so everyone gets what they're looking for. While I would wager that student opinions really don't count, I figured I'd take a little time to point out the things that our school really needs.

Some people say that North Muskegon needs to offer higher-level AP-type classes. I'm all for the pursuit of useless knowledge simply for the sake of learning, but do you really want to waste your time taking yet another math class, learning symbols and function you'll never even waste a second thinking about ever again? If we're going to go for the mind-bending classes, we might as well make them useful to our everyday lives. For example, why doesn't North Muskegon offer "Intro to Telepathy"? I would find it hard to believe there are any classes which require more brain exercise than telepathy. Also, an interesting followup to this might be an in-depth study of telekinesis, another very practical skill to possess.

For those less interested in the pure mental aspects of school, I suggest we begin offering courses which teach some of the activities our students will be involved in everyday once they enter the real world. For example, who could argue against the need for classes such as "Practical Fear Mongering", "Intro to Kungfu", and "Advanced Mooching"?

If we expect to produce students able to succeed in the world we place them in, we must allow them to leave our school with the toold they need. Subjects such as these are simply too vital to be left to chance. We must act now to insure our future achievements.
